Talane’s Top 10 Tips to Create a Wealthy Mindset and Attract True Wealth
With all the doom and gloom in the news about the state of the economy, it’s all too easy to fall into the trap of negative thinking about your own financial situation. In order to attract the best people and opportunities, it is imperative that you keep a positive outlook. There is no reason why you can’t profit in the current economic climate while expanding your wealth and happiness if you are willing to think outside the box. Here are some practical, but not necessarily intuitive ways you can start attracting wealth and success:
- Eliminate all the petty annoyances that you have been putting up with.Everything you tolerate saps your energy. Most people tolerate between 60-100 things in their life. Set aside a blitz day and get rid of them —sew on buttons, unclog drains, clear out your desk –then celebrate with a friend. Watch the video on Petty Annoyances
- Respect Your Money. Order your bills and tuck them neatly into an attractive wallet or purse. In order to attract wealth you have to treat your money with respect. A tidy, well-ordered wallet is the first indication that you take your money and financial life seriously.
- Plug the money drains. Eliminate all those sneaky, unnecessary expenses. For example, the annual credit card fee for $25.00. If you think it isn’t a big deal, think again. If you are 35 today and live until 85 that $25 a year saved at 8% interest will be $14,344. Beware little expenses that add up at a shocking rate, like the daily cup of java. Buy your own espresso maker, bring it to the office and save $500-$600 in a year. Read the full article
- Create a Vacuum. Nature abhors a vacuum. Get rid of everything you haven’t used in the last year to make space for new and better things. There is nothing quite so easy or effective for attracting new opportunities as clearing out the clutter both at work and at home. Read related articles on clearing clutter
- Put in place a daily pleasure. Make sure that you have something to look forward to every single day. It doesn’t have to be big or expensive. Try a hot bath, a phone call to a friend, time alone, a walk in the park. For more on installing healthy habits read

- Do something that energizes you. Prevent burnout by consistently scheduling weekly activities that replenish your energy, light you up and keep you excited about life. Watching TV does not count as it drains your energy. Ballroom dancing, tennis, yoga, massage or anything that energizes you counts!
- Focus on “What is Important About Today?” It is easy to get distracted by urgent, but ultimately unimportant activities. Every day write down the answer to the above question. Then ask, “What is important about the future?” Then write down, “What must get done today?” If it doesn’t make the list, you can probably skip it. - Underpromise and Overdeliver. If you think you can get it done in one week, tell your boss it will take two weeks, then turn it in early. Get in the habit of doubling or tripling the time you need to get things done and you’ll find you will impress your manager more. And, add value at every interaction. Every single customer and colleague interaction is an opportunity to add value. How can you add value? A smile, an acknowledgement, a favor. - Invest in yourself. Keep on learning and growing. With the rapid pace of technological change, you must continue improving your knowledge and skill base. If you don’t, you will be out-of-date within three months. Given most senior executives now work with an executive coach, you’ll be at a disadvantage if you don’t have one. Consider working with anAccredited Executive Coach to enhance your own productivity and effectiveness at work.
